December 16

… is an important day in my universe, being:

  • the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, which is what George and Andy are running away from at the beginning of the book. George keeps running away from it for quite a while, actually.
  • Beethoven’s birthday, as all readers of Peanuts know quite well, and so does at least one of my characters.
  • Jane Austen’s birthday, which I’m sure both George and Olivia celebrate in their own ways.
  • The birthday of Arthur C. Clarke, who among other things said that “any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” Words to take into consideration when writing apparent impossibilities.

I’m very glad to have my book available and to know people are reading it, on the date that both begins and (more or less) ends the action. Drink some tea today!
